2004 Rx8 gear issues
So, my story is this, prior to having issues, I always had some type of issue with second gear grinding, thought it was a synchro. One day I drove it and dropped it in second gear and lost power and couldn’t get it out of gear at all, I beat it out and was able to use 3,4,5,6 and reverse once I got it home. When it was not running I only had issues getting it in 2nd but not 1st gear. The rest of the gears it didn’t matter, running or off it went in gear.
Now, I replaced the clutch and flywheel, but I can’t get it in 5th gear at all. It’s like it’s not there at all, drove it for 3 miles, got back and now 1st and second feel hard and get stuck in gear, I just purchased a new transmission a few minutes ago. Literally. Have any of you ever had this same issue and was able to figure out the issue? I will update if transmission fixes this. I am trying to figure out what the issue is without spending more money then needed.

So you had a problem with 2nd, continued driving until it failed, and are wondering what the problem is?
Yes the trans will fix it and it probably wasn't worth taking the old trans apart to fix it.
Make sure you use the correct fluid, GL4 ONLY. Make sure your pedal and hydraulics are properly bled and adjusted. The problems with 5th could be the new clutch not disengaging fully.
