Unhappy 2006 PZ Stops Accelerating

I recently bought an RX8 PZ. For the first couple of months there was no problem at all. The car was in really good condition with 26,000 miles.

I noticed when I was accelerating, the car would suddenly stop accelerating. It doesn't stall it just stops and then kangaroos. I kept on accelerating and the engine flooded and the car broke down. I then got it picked up and in for a full service. They ran fuel pressure tests etc. and declared it fixed.

Then recently I have noticed the exact same thing (acceleration cuts out) starts happening when the car is low on fuel (Just below half way sometimes!). I really don't know what is wrong with it.

My girlfriends uncle is a mechanic and said it could be the fuel filter but he didn't know much about rotary engines.

Has anyone had the same/similar problem or has any advice on what could be wrong?

From your notes it sounds more like fuel pump related issue than just fuel filter.

Curious about how the pressure test was conducted and what they did to declare the issue "fixed"?

What he said ^
Miles on the car? Compression? Catalytic converter's status?
Miles on the coils and spark plugs?

I really don't know much about engines! The car has 28,800 miles. The guy said after the engine flooded he replaced all the "plugs" which i'm guessing mean spark plugs. They gave it a full service and they test drove it and didn't notice the lag i was talking about. The only thing they said was that the brake pads need replacing soon. I don't have a clue about the Catalytic Converter. You think I should just take it back to the garage and say its not fixed?

Finding another garage might be a better idea
This forum has a wealth of information anyway, try performing a search for:
catalytic converter, coils, engine compression, MAF sensor, fuel pump, premix and maintenance.
It's a lot to read but from your posts you clearly show your interest in learning how to take care of your car!
