2nd release bearing failure in a year

Just recently replaced clutch disc pilot and throw out bearings. Now im getting the same sound described in symtoms and causes but slightly less loud. Noise when clutch pedal is up. The teeth on my pressure plate looked fine. Oil seal installed. Could my tb be a dud?

Where did you get it and what brand was it? Model number? Many are prone to failure on our cars, and clutch adjustment being a bit off could cause premature wear and failure as well

The throwout bearing is only active when the clutch is pushed in.... so any noise you are getting with clutch out isn't that big if concern. Are you sure it isn't just the usual noisy neutral rollover noise that is common in the transmission?

If the throwout bearing is going it will let you know when you put your foot on the clutch. If the bearing is active when you foot isn't on the clutch it will cause it to fail quickly as it isn't lubricated and not designed to be used except when you use the clutch
A common reason for failure is when you rest you foot on the clutch pedal when driving....

Otherwise next time it is apart look at the fork and the pivot stud to make sure it is OK

Looking at the clutch disc, It would stand to believe you need to bleed the clutch lines then adjust the pedal. Sounds like it isn't properly set and partially engaged.

Also, besides wondering where you are getting your throwout bearing from and what brand/model it is, where are you getting your clutch disc and what brand/model is that?

maybe the noise is common but i didnt have that noise on idle before and i dont like it. I feel like something is out of alignment.

I pumped the clutch with the res open then held down the clutch. i then cracked the slave bleeder and immediately closed it again. the first time i did it the clutch pedal kept dropping the second and third time got better. maybe i need to flush it?

i got the disc from a clutch guy in miami. custom made but designed for rx7.

the bearing and oil seal are oem from ebay. probably somebody on here
Genuine Mazda Part Number: N326-11-D03 & 1881-11-404A

you need a exedy clutch, the one made for our cars. Are you talking about Miami Clutch, right off Biscayne Blvd on NE 20th St.? I've seen more than one "custom" clutch for an Rx8 from that place explode/fall apart. Those are actually clutch discs for a NA Rx7 that makes less power than a 4 port automatic Rx8, so of course those clutches are exploding.

Make sure your clutch lines are properly bled, and use a proper Exedy clutch disc made for our cars (costs $$$ but that's what our cars need), and use factory bearings.

The factory bearing is fine and should serve you well. Exedy sells a refresh kit with a throw-out bearing made by KOYO, which is the same manufacturer as Mazda's OEM bearing. Clutch kits are weird for these cars, I've heard a lot of mixed experiences. I stick with OEM or Exedy OEM replacements, which work well and have worked well on every Mazda I've ever owned.

Did you grease it as per the factory service manual? I've found it is important to grease ONLY the spots specified to minimize collection of contaminants that could prematurely wear the bearing out.

Thanks,
I'll go OEM next time for sure. I greased them just as they were in the manual
