I hate to ask silly trivial questions but this one is bugging me.

Yes, I did search and yes I did R.T.F.M.

I have a 6 disc in-dash player in my 8. Not Bose. But it is factory original according to the original window sticker so it was not added later.

It only loads and plays one CD at any given time. I follow the instructions for loading another CD and it does nothing. No indication on the display, no beep, nothing.

Help!

 

Are you sure it does not say 6 speaker? I read mine that way off the factory sticker. I kept trying to add a second CD, I even have the load buttons, but it only plays one.

Check out GROM audio. They have a cool little box that will take a USB stick and make it look like 6 CDs. You need to follow their instructions to make sure it will work with your head unit (specific software version that I do not remember off the top of my head). The device will also give you an AUX input as well as, I think now, talk with an I-Phone.

 

The window sticker says 6 disc in the extra options section and the radio itself says 6cd.

 

the 6 disc is always a dealer installed option. never from factory. if you click the load button and it ejects the other disc instead of showing you slot 2,3,4,5 or 6 to load it into then you have only the factory installed single disc player.
and a 6disc faceplate.

 

zoom44 is right. If you do not get the prompt for which slot to put the disk in, the changer was "uninstalled" sometime in the past 6 years.. Good news is you have room to plug in the GROM.....

 

That angers me. Why the hell... the window sticker says 6 disc and my faceplate is 6 disc...

Gives me motivation to get me a metra kit and throw in a touch screen. Nav, dvd, ipod interface...

Any way to be sure it's not just malfunctioning?

When I press load nothing happens. Doesn't eject or show what slot to put it in.

Is the single head unit different than the 6 disc? Or is the 6 disc just an addon?

 

On these the radio is separate from the buttons. On my 6, the load button has multiple stacked disks (really small button, really small disks). My 8 has only a single disk on the button. Maybe that is a clue.
