6 Port Aux Sleeves

6 Port Aux Sleeves
So I have searched and searched for this question because one of the auxiliary valves on my 6 port LIM is very, very loose. Like, I can pull the valve out of the actual manifold but it still attached by a little metal cord thing. I can stick it back in and everything seems fine, but should one of them do this? this seems unusually loose. I'm also about to replace my SSV because it is broken so I'm wondering if a used manifold would just be a better option at this point. I actually had to use a hammer to get the SSV out because it was stuck so badly and I'm a very built guy and it would not budge AT ALL without the hammer. Quite the build-up inside.
Thanks for any insight.

I took off the back of the APV gear and they rotate fine, still skeptical on the condition of the one but it fully opens up by hand... need to test with a battery and the others with a vacuum pump tomorrow.

They’re generally loose by design. As long as the pivot hold-down tab to the actuator gear arm isn’t bent, cracked, or otherwise damaged in any way it should be fine. Be sure to oil it all up properly and generously per the service manual instructions; very important.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I don't believe I know what tab you are referring to. If you could explain the location of it, I would probably be able to find it, or identify it in a diagram. And yes, I'm using the service manual instructions as well as a video to check and verify the functionality of the valves.

Sorry, it’s actually a hinged arm attached to the sleeve, which bolts to the arm. The tab where the hinges attach to the sleeve are known to be fragile. Seems like maybe you didn’t disassemble it in entirety, so here’s a diagram and basic explanation.
The hinged arms on the sleeves are attached to a toothed arm that is driven back & forth by the geared APV motor drive to rotate them open and closed per the PCM command signal. You need to unbolt the protective cover plate on the gasket side of the UIM to disassemble and inspect all those parts. At one time these parts aren’t sold as serviceable individual replacement pieces, but according to this diagram maybe they are now? Just be careful, take notes, photos, etc. to make sure you can put it all back together properly.
There are plenty of threads showing disassembly and photos on the forum if you need further info.
