About to buy RX-8 is it normal to rumble in idle.
Hey guys so I just test drove an RX-8 it ran very nice, and seemed like a really nice car. the only thing is, I don't know anything about rotary engines and also wanted to know if rumbling is normal in idle? It seems that when the car is idling it has a rumbling kind of sound like it wants to go forward, and I can feel it in my seat. It is hard to explain but once I take off from stop position, it leaves and everything else is normal. If anyone could help me out that would be great! Also if anyone could point me to a good thread where I can learn about the engine that would be great or some sort of maintenance guide.
Thank you very much

See my sig.
Depending on the exhaust, ignition condition, motor mount condition, compression scores, etc... yes, a certain amount of rumbling is normal at idle. Idle is 750rpm, and each rotor is only spinning at 250rpm at that point.
