Help!!! Abs and Traction control dont wont work

I have a turboed 8, only thing else is spark plug wires, and i recently put the mazsport cooling mod on it. now every time i drive after start up, a few miles down the road my abs and traction control lights come on ( like if you hold the buttom for 7 seconds) and traction control and abs are indeed shut off. Im wondering why it keeps doing this, i feel it has something to do wiht the mazsport mod, becuase it started right after i installed that.

Thanks

Read this thread:

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/power-steering-failure-107481/

I have the same problem. Losing DSC/ABS is nothing too big, the loss of power steering at speed is a rather disturbing thought.

Check your fuse's, look for the stop fuse in particular it's a blue 15a fuse in the under hood fuse box. I had the same thing happen and that fuse was blown. I had a dead short in the wiring harness for the third brake light. It would only blow when the trunk was closed.

Here's a link to the thread that helped me: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...highlight=stop

It is the mazsport mod that turns your stock cooling fans on. ill check the fuse today and see it its blown or not. thanks guys.

I checked all the fuses for dsc, the room, and the stop they were all fine. im going to try the reset but taking off the positive terminal for 40 seconds and see f that works. possibly the volts dropped to low

this might be a stupid question bc I dont think you would have made this mistake (i hope) but are you certain you put the mazsport control modules in the right slots? check and make sure you replaced the fans and not the dsc modules

hahaha no they are in the right spot, the problem didnt happen till about 200 miles after i put it on, im thinking it might be a voltage problem. But i might take it in to mazda to see what they say.

check the wheel speed sensors. this may be unrelated to the fan mod. does your trac and abs work for the first few miles before the light turns off?

Same thing happened to be except I lost power steering as well. Turned out my alt died and I had to drive 20 minutes home on just battery life.

Did you try the reset for traction control of turning the wheel full lock left then full lock right?

the stability control on/off switch introduses a ground to the system, if I'm not mistaken. Is it posible you could have nicked a wire or have one rubbing through the insolation somewhere around where you did your mod instalations?

yeah you have to ground the thermostat for the cooling mod, but i have checked it and it is making good connection. I don't believe any wires good have got cut its a pretty simple install.

Nope stock wheels too. As much as I want to fix this problem, it has been a little fun never having traction control. Defently with the turbo and dropping temps

ya i had this happen once after tires rotated. wheel speed sensors, if your able to get a hand behind the wheel and this goes for all of them look for the wire going into a connector. should be 4 of them, 1 for each wheel. start with the fronts they are easy to spot and should give you an idea how to get to the rears. its real easy

So i figured it out, its a voltage problem for me. When all the cooling fans kick on at idle the voltage is dropping to low witch is turning the traction control off. so I either need a good optima or a better alternator.
