Ac/idle/temp help
Alright so I got a a small issue. Not really huge but personally I think it's my thermostat going out... I think.
But here is the situation:
Car runs fine, idles fine temps stay normal, even Gettin down on it some. Temps outside are generally 90-105 degrees.
At idle everything is normal, till I kick on the ac. RPM drops quick to the 7 hundred range, idle gets rough and shakes bad. Almost like it's gonna stall then pops right back up to normal for about ten seconds. Repeat. Engine temps start rising, got up to 219 just sitting. Moving, going down the road, however you wanna phrase it, temps still rise. But no running issues besides at idle. Fans work. The only time I have the idle/temp issue is with the ac on. Going down the road the only abnormality temps rise more than I think they should.
Also it only happens when the engine temp is 185 or higher. If it's not, everything is is fine till it does get that high.
I have searched other threads, I have found some with similar issues but none like this that people don't just say, replace motor mounts or spray out the condenser.

Did you ever change your coolant and clean your AC condenser and rad out? As I said in the other thread, the system is a sum of parts, if one of those parts are not working the efficiency of the whole system will be effected.

I have no data on year, or miles, but look hard at the links in my signature.
The stuff in the $100 thread will help with idle and cooling. data on the year and miles will help us as well.

04 MT 25k miles.
I did the grounding and tried the ac reprogram. Reprogram doesn't seem to work....
II talked with my pops and we both think I need to clean the throttle body and replace tstat. (obv I'd flush while at it).

reprogram will just change frequency, make it run a little longer... Don't clean throttle body, clean MAF, ESS would not hurt either. Then, with an 04, run through the rest of the list. Thermostat opens at 185, fans do not come on until much later. Do the fans on low mod in the list and the foam around radiator. Will make a huge difference. That, with clean MAF and ESS might take care of it.
Themostat is a bigger PITA than all of the mods above. And, will not cool car if radiator cannot dump heat or care is recycling engine compartment heat back through radiator.
