Alarm question
I have a 2004 and just started noticing that when trying to set the alarm the 4 ways don't flash anymore. The dome light still goes dim as soon as the lock button is pushed it seems like the trunk or a door is not quite shut all the way. I dont know how the sensors work for telling the car when the trunk is shut, but i have a weird feeling thats what this is.
This was going on for about a week and i never really thought anything of it, the car still locked and everything seemed fine. However the last 2 nights my alarm would not stop going off. At first i thought someone might have been trying to get into the car but that was not the case i think the car is just acting funny.
Anyone have any ideas on what this might be?

Trunk latch switch is the likely suspect, but Doc's right....there is one for the hood as well.
Usually when the trunk latch is bad, it leaves the trunk light on and your battery will go dead pretty quick.
Open up the pass through between the rear seats and see if your trunk light is on!
This assumes you have a functioning bulb/LED in there...............test that by opening the trunk and making sure it comes on, then close it and look through the passthrough to insure it's off.
If it doesn't come on when you open the trunk, then you could have a shorted bulb. Pull it and see if your issue goes away.

Checked the trunk light off when its closed and comes on when i open the trunk.
I went to pop the trunk last night and the trunk release wouldn't work, checked the trunk and it was open. Closed the trunk and the lights flashed normally. I thought i was just an idiot and didn't close the trunk. I left the car for a bit went back outside and tried the alarm back to the same as before. The trunk was indeed closed this time and it would still not arm. I have checked all the doors, hood and the trunk they are all closed tight and the alarm will not arm again. I am stuck on this one and really don't want to go to the dealer. Any one ever had this problem before? And does anyone know where the trunk sensor is located?

if your lights flashed when you closed it, then its not the position sensors on the doors/hood/trunk. Since your lights are flashing when your locking the vehicle it must be something in your alarm system.

Well the lights only flashed that one time and about an hour later when i went back out they wouldnt flash. The car still arms i'm sure of it because the lights dim when the lock button is pushed. I am almost positive now that it is the trunk sensor because of the one time i closed the trunk and it armed. Is there suposted to be a trunk light in the car that says the trunk is open? and does anyone know where the sensor is located?

Yes the sensor is in the latch assembly. Now the second time you are sure the trunk was closed and your not accidently hitting the button in your pocket correct? Yes there is a light in the trunk that will be on if the trunk sensor reads as being open. You can see this light if you look through the center port in the back seat. The light sits next to the left amp in the trunk.
