another car wont start thread
Ok so I have searched and read threads that I thought pertained to my issue.
My wife moved my car this weekend and turned it off without warming it up. the next day my car wouldnt start. I have a 2005 manual tranny.
I have tried deflooding my car. I pulled all spark plugs and cleaned them as they were pretty dirty. I pulled my starter and to my surprise I have an updated starter, took it down to the parts store and it checked out fine. I took the battery out and had it checked and it was bad so I replaced it with Optima Red Top but I still have no start.
Other than taking it to the dealer any suggestions..

Welcome. It seems you have searched a bit so I'll try and help.
It could still be flooded, what deflood procedure did you use? It sounds like a weak start but if the battery is good and starter are good then that is likely not it. Are your grounds clean? Any corrosion? Have you checked all of your fuses? Are you getting fuel to the the engine? Have your wife turn the key to the on position and then listen at the rear drivers side passenger seat and see if your pump is priming. Have to tried push starting it?
Let me know on that stuff and then we can move on to other things.

It could still be flooded, I will try deflooding some more. Here is a link to the procedure I have used. https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...light=flooding same as Grace suggested. (i found it with original search)
Brand new battery turns like a champ so not battery or starter.
I checked all the grounds and saw no corrosion.
will check all fuses and listen for pump priming.
How would I check to see if fuel is getting to engine?
Will try push starting this evening when I can get help.

Actually, pull start it. 18mph in 2nd gear and let out the clutch. If/when it fires over, shift to neutral and don't let it stall out! After it's warm...........take it for a nice good run.
Then you need to determine how old you coils and plugs really are...........you may have said, but I'm not reading backwards.

The coils and plugs are about a year and a half old.
Checked all the fuses = good
more deflooding = still no start
I can hear the pump priming when the key is turned

It was flooded. I took ot to the dealer and he called me said it was flooded and had to replace plugs. I asked how much do i owe you thinking im about to get ripped since they never called asking if i wanted them to fix it. He said "nothing". Its covered under mazdas new 8 year 100k warrenty for this problem. Will find out more when i pick up car.

They told me when I picked up the car that the Plugs were covered under a new warrenty by Mazda. I noticed on the work order that they did a compression test also so I asked what were the results and of course they didnt have specifics but that it passed otherwise I would be getting a new engine.
And I did try deflooding but I didnt try pull starting it. I figured the plugs had to be replaced and wasnt sure what else so I was just going to let them diagnose it. It all worked out in the end.

Either that one or this one.
Yeah, I know it's kind of a joke and flooding is more than likely caused by weak ignition components whether plugs and/or coils, and sometimes even the old starter, but it's still a good practice for aggravations sake.
Guess I'm going on the theory that maybe if new people see it, it will result in less "Hey, my car won't start" threads.
Can't hurt to have either of these in your glovebox and put it on the dash if/when you ever take your car into a mechanic, tire shop, or anywhere that someone may move it and shut it down quickly.
I still like the other one better as even those that may not read so well should be able to follow it.
