Anti Theft Deterrent System Flashing, Can't start car, help? Anyone?
Was about to go out, then suddenly the car wouldn't start. Thinking the engine may have flooded, I saw the control panel and see the flashing Anti-theft thing blinking over and over. Try to start the car again, nothing. Read the owners manual and followed all the procedures, nothing worked. Called Mazda Roadside Assistance, nothing, they said wait till tomorrow morning.
Anyone with this problem? Think the alarm malfunctioned or something. Just great.

When you turn the key, does the dash light up, radio works, etc?
If so, you might try disconnecting the negative battery cable for a
couple of minutes. I don't see any harm in it, it would be no different
than if the battery died.
Might reset the system.

yes it's auto, but nope, car is in P position. Stupid light is still blinking... Anti-theft device light. It goes off if I turn it to the ON position, but if I try to start, it just starts blinking again.
:P Thanks for all the help, keep on coming.

i'm guessing it the immobolizer thats stopping the car from sparking....
could it be ur remote not working properly? try unlocking it?
cause i have seen some car even if u have the door open it'll lock by itself and the driver will think the car's not armed.... try to start car but won't work until the alarm is disengaged...

Remote opens the doors, disarms the alarm just fine. I see the lights flash once when I arm it, etc etc. But the light still persists. I'm calling roadside assistance now and see what they are going to do.
Starter doesn't activate. I can crank it, but it sounds as if the engine is flooded... but it's not that.

The immobiliser is stopping the car from being started.
It is designed to do this when a key that has not been programmed for your vehicle is used on it. You can add keys yourself (the procedure is in the OM from memory), but the first two keys have to be programmed by a dealer.
Either you are using a key that has not been programmed (I doubt it, if it is the same key you have always used), the transponder (chip) in the key is faulty or has been blanked (I have never heard of this happening, but I gues it is possible), or the immobiliser system has a fault in it (like a faulty module, or ignition switch antenna).
Unfortunately all you can do is wait for the dealer to try and reprogram your keys, and if that doesn't work they will probably have to replace the module.

Thanks for all the suggestions, just got back from dealership, they said it flooded... yet it also had the Anti-theft light malfunction.. something about it both happening at the same time when I cranked my car and it tried to start at a higher temperature.
I wonder if adding a turbo timer would resolve the flooding issue... so that it will keep the car running and heated afterwards.

Happened to me.....
Same thing happened to me, towed to dealer, it was a blown fuse.
Third one from the top in the fusebox underhood - 15 amps, marked 'engine'.
It is the ECU fuse. Worth a check.....

This just happened to a buddy of mine, and right before I got to test drive it ).
Could it be possible that the GReddy Turbo Timer he has installed would cause the malfunction? Anyone else have problems with their turbo timers?

Hi I have 05mazda rx8 PZ
Recently my battery died when I connected the cable I connected them wrong way round
And now I have some electric power
Basically at first I was told to check main fuse which was ok....but I still changed it as I ordered one so thort I'd just put it on....I've checked all fuses and relays
The only fuse which had blown was the room fuse which I've replaced
I've even checked the ecu which seems fine
What could it be???
Been told maybe the Immobiliser not letting me start the car???
The only power I have is to all window, headlight, stereo and air conditioning unit works fine....
When I put key in ignition I have no lights on dash apart from flashing key light and door open light ( door was open so this why its on)....I can hear a clicking noise from main fuse box???
So all the gauges have no power and won't turn over....
Any body have same issue ??? Or. An any one suggest anything for me to try or replace ???
Oh yeah when I try to start the car the boot opens???? Which I found very weird

Hi guys,
I have a similar problem: I just replaced the battery on my 2006 Mazda3 GT and when re-connected, all lights and horn are solid on. Everything else is dead. No dashboard light, nothing... I tried to open the trunk with the key - it didn't work. I tried open-close/open-close sequence on the driver's door with the key. Doesn't work. I tried to put the key in on position and then re-connect the battery: doesn't work either. But, in this case, with the battery still connected, I turn the key to off position and now the wipers stopped.
Can anybody help me with some ideas...?
Kindly appreciated!

security system malfunction
So tonight I went down to the garage to take Lola-The-Car (2004 RX8 Grand Touring) shopping. I have not used the car since last weekend.
The first thing I noticed was that I was unable to open the trunk from the key fob. I was also unable to unlock the doors. After unlocking the doors the old fashioned way I noticed that the interior lights did not come on. I thought maybe a dead battery, although I replaced the battery within the last several months. Then I tried starting the car:nothing. The engine did not turn over, and none of the various idiot lights in the instrument cluster lit. No clicking sound indicating a dead battery. Just plain nothing.
I did notice that the security system indicator light was illuminated continuously. The owner's manual suggested that this meant there is a malfunction of the security system. Well I guess that's better than catastrophic engine failure, but how the heck can I bypass the security system so I can get the car started?
The car is parked in an underground apartment building garage and I'm not sure a tow truck can even get in. Help!

I am experiencing similar issues with a 2006 that has smart key. First smart card stopped working, scan showed that the bumper sensor has to be replaced. Ordered the bumper sensor and followed a post from another member to cut the wires and move the sensor inside the trunk. Followed the procedure, car runs but engine will never crank. Scanned code and it B2141 and P1260 Theft - Vehicle immobilized.

Yea I am planning to tow the vehicle to the dealer. I tried to reset the PCM but it didn't resolve it. Did NVM and KAM reset. And tried to initialize the PATS module using Forscan but initialization always fail. It's very unfortunate as I was replacing my own sensor to avoid going to the dealer 😁
