Well, today is the first day my car has been doing this. I added about .5 qt of oil this morning because my car was due for a top off. I went out and drove the car, it was fine. Came home and pulled in the driveway, went to rev to 3k to turn off. And noticed a "tough" rev. I'll call it. I saw my shifter shake more than a normal idle. I revved and it was a weird metal noise and just sounded weird. It was very hard to explain.


I let the car sit for awhile and went out and checked the oil. It was actually on the high side.

I started the car up after checking the oil. Revved around and the car was still warm(in middle of gauge). There was no problems revving. The occasional weird down rev to idle(normal for me). Took it for a spin, I felt it get tough around 7k to redline. But occasionally will do this.

Pulled in the driveway and this same tough idle. It's very hard to explain. Its like the cat's clogged or something is causing the engine to not want rev. Like it revs fine but does not sound good and its rough.


Any help would be grateful.

The plugs and such were replaced about 5,000 miles.

 

Sounds like it is time for a tune up.

Year miliage and how long have u owned the car?

 

its 2004 MT. with almost 41,000miles. I've had it a little over 2 years.


I started it up yesterday and black smoke came out of the exhaust. A good amount.
