For the last several days, I get a few beeps from the cockpit alert beeper, with no dash warning lights lit. The owner's manual only describes beeps with a warning light.

I think these usually appear during a moderately hard right-hand turn.

Any clues? Is my 8 "pining for the N flash?" Or does someone know under what conditions beeps can occur with no warning lights?

I don't think there's a light... just a beep. Maybe thinking of your FC?

 

alert beep? are you talking about the red line chime?

 

To clarify:
I am getting ONLY a beep, 3 to 5 in a row, during or right after a right-hand turn. No lights. No wheel spin, not near redline, clean dry pavement. No reason to suspect any listed cause from the owner's manual.

Is my 8 telegraphing that it wants to go to the track?????

 

Can you beep it when you Redline?

If no, maybe they have the wires switched from DSC/TC to beeper.

 

Beep at redline works fine; beep/lights for DSC/TSC also works fine. This is an extra added beep.

If anyone has a full shop manual, are there any other known conditions that cause beeps, with no warning lights?

I'll check my shop manual and see if there's a table of beep events somewhere... I've never heard anything like that (and I know I have cornered hard enough to trigger whatever it is you're hearing if it were normal).

 

Problem solved! I KNEW the folks on this forum were wizards! My 2-year-old just happens to have a toy "Palm Pilot", which just happens to have a beep that is indistinguishable from the RX8 beep. And I just found that toy wedged in the back seat. I bet my extra beeps are gone tomorrow. Thanks G8rboy!
