Yeah...i had the same problem too? Except after i took my car for a check up i found out that i had a gas leak. I told the technician that i always turned the gas cap several times after pumping, of course I'm happy it wasn't something very critical like engine trouble however now i have to buy a new gas cap before it turns back on again.

The only problem left is this freakin' mystery with the power steering.....

Hopefully someone in this site has a solution for this!

Turns out there was no code, it was just bad gasoline. So now I have half a tank of this crap to burn through.

Maybe a cat crawled under the hood & shorted out the battery?

Same problem

Just like the other post. I was doing my daily redline and the CEL blinked a few times then went away. So plugs? Coils? 2005 MT 72k miles.

Go through this: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tec...t-here-222280/

The point you skip because you don't think it applies will be the point that is your solution.

What happened?

I just got the car last Thursday and
I went to McDonald's with some friends. Didn't run it too hard. Went inside for like 10 minutes and left it running thinking it would be Ok. Came back out and it had shut itself off. Battery light was on and when I tried starting it, it acted like it barely had enough juice to start, then the check engine light started flashing and after I revved it to 3000 and let off it went to idle and cut off.

Help car is not very well.

My 06 RX8 has had the engine management light on for a couple of weeks but has been running fine until now, light started to flash and then started to get a misfire and instant loss of power, the cat has been removed before I got it. coil pack and spark plugs have been renewed any clues to what could be the problem?

Were you able to clean your ESS sensor? Check your trCEL, you may have more than just one trouble code.
If you have time, read these links: Clean Your ESS and P0335 Eccentric shaft position sensor circuit problem - Car will not idle.

This just happened to me and I think it is the same issue even though I know from the records the previous owner left me, that they were changed 17k mi ago and the coil packs 200 mi after that so basically the same (OEM). I checked them before this happened and remembered they looked rusty, I was planning on buying the BHR pack anyway. This happened to me while I was driving on the highway and it was starting to rain and I redlined it but as I redlined it the rain started pouring hard and the CEL flashed, so I pulled over and shut the car off, once I started it again the CEL was off the whole time and I made it home no problems. What do you guys think I have only had the car for almost 4k mi, it's an 04 6 sp mt, 118k mi original engine. It idles roughly sometimes if I drive it for many hours but even then it never dips below 850 rpm I just notice it shakes a little bit, but I know the engine mounts are good (Replaced 4 yrs ago) which also leads me to believe it's a spark issue. If that's the case how long do you guys think I can drive the car like that because I would have to wait until probably later this month to have the money for the BHR.

Not that coil maintenance isn't important, but there are things you'll want to eliminate as potential causes: clogged catalytic converter, oil in the intake, poor intake design if it's not original.

The spark plugs were rusty?! The firing end?

No, the end that the wires catch onto. But yes next on my list was to get a mid-pipe so I can start premixing more often I only do it on road trips so maybe twice a week now in fear of clogging the cat. I inspected the air box filter and it looks fine, OEM intake btw. Just to clarify here are the mods I plan on doing (In order), I just got a job so maybe 1-2 a month at least:

BHR coils with new sparkplugs and wires, Racingbeat mid-pipe v2, sohn adapter, Mazda edit to get rid of mid-pipe CEL and to tweak other things like the fan temp

Also since I am on the topic, if you have any recommendations for a mid-pipe that will bolt on with the rest of the stock exhaust let me know, anything decent quality that isn't expensive preferred so I can get it sooner. I have a FL plate so sound isn't a problem. Also for oil, I was wondering if I should run the itemitsu engine oil after the Sohn adapter. (Any advice is appreciated for any of the listed mods I am a noob)

You can run a synthetic (even without the Sohn), but I wouldn't spend extra money on Idemitsu. I'm sure it's great but Mobile1 or LiquiMoly get great UOAs. You also don't really need to worry about premix and the cat. The oil volumes are miniscule and if you use a good JASO FD oil it will burn clean. Excess fuel, short trips and poor ignition is what clogs cats with residue from fuel.

I see thank you so much for clearing that up. In that case I still will decat it as I use it as a daily. Right now I just use it to go to class, work, and drop my gf off to work and the maybe weekly road trip at best. Just to be safe I’ll decat, is there anything else in the exhaust I should worry about or just that?
