Bog down at takeoff

Hi everyone,

I have a problem where the car bogs down in first at takeoff or reverse at takeoff, almost stalls. It is not a manual thing, I have been driving manual for over 20 years.

Changed plugs and coils last week. Wires are on their way.
Cleaned MAF, new filter and cleaned Throttle body.

The car was doing it before these changes also.

231Hp manual, starts cold and hot fine. Sometimes it has an extended crank when warm not hot. It starts better hot than it does cold but I don't have any problem starting ever.

Apart from the bog down at takeoff the car has great power and reaches redline no problem at all. I have had this problem for about a year now.

Also the engine shakes a lot and I get a lot of vibration in the car. Idle is perfectly stable however no wandering or idle hunt etc.

I probably need engine mounts for sure. Could engine mounts cause this hesitation at takeoff?

Another thing I noticed is that when in neutral, if you blip the throttle it has a pause and then revs up, sometimes the revs will dip and then it revs up. This is only from idle not when revs are higher, at higher revs the response is instant.

I look forward to suggestions.

Thanks all..

fuel delivery?
wonder if it's fuel pump related.

sounds like you should check those motor mounts for the vibration issues as well.

My 2006 also does this. It bogs down in drive and reverse at low rpm (less than 1k or so) and during initial take off. It also shakes a lot at idle.

Ok, after cleaning the throttle body and changing to a fresh air filter, cleaning the MAF, checking all the coils, plugs and wires, reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery and the 20 brake stomp and let the ECU relearn all seems well. The response is way better. No more Bog down and it is a pleasure do drive, lots of power etc.

I cleaned the Throttle body by removing it and completely cleaning it through the back etc.

The idle is rock solid as well, no hunting or anything, the engine does shake though. I think the early throttle response will greatly improve with new motor mounts as I feel if the engine does a slight twist before take off it will rob that power from the wheels momentarily.

Fuel problem, no..

All is good, I will update in a month or so when I get new mounts in.
