Broken Center Console... (NOT the lid)!

I went out to my car this afternoon to leave work and found that I couldn't close the center console lid. The right side of the piece in front of it that houses the seat heater and nav buttons had lifted up and was obstructing the lid closure. A picture is attached. For anyone who has had this thing apart before, is there some kind of locking tab that broke off? Should it be covered under warranty?

It got really cold here today - I wonder if expansion/contraction had anything to do with it?

Attached is a picture - I am pulling up on it to see if I can figure out what holds it on, but I can't really tell.

Ahhh.. you broke the tab that should never be broken. It's easy to break. Have you had that piece off the car lately? Did you get the recall work done recently? The Mazda service techs have to remove that piece to inspect the shifter as part of the heat recall. If they don't watch it, they will break it. Mine broke that way, but it stays down, so I'm not complianing yet.

Had the recall work done fairly recently. I'll bet the cold weather change caused the piece to lift up some, causing the obstruction. I'll take it back for repair. I've never had the console apart, myself.

sorry for the reincarnation of this thread, but it directly tied to my issue.

I did some stereo work and took mine off. Tonight I noticed it was a lil loose, so i pulled it up a lil to see if the tab was there...SNAP. Not anymore.

I think i'm gonna go get some of that sticky-tack stuff that usually seems to do wonders. I figure that if I put some in there and close the remaining lid, it'll sit flush and keep from rattling.

Any suggestions for anyone that's did this before? I know there's others out there....like EVERYONE that opened that up.

Did it superglue up nicely? is it worth pulling the whole freaking peice off to do so?

Lets hear it!

I fixed mine with self adhesive velcro tape. It just took a while to cut it to the right shape.
