Broken intake mesh screen

Broken intake mesh screen
Just had my intake apart & discovered the mesh screen just before the MAF was broken . Much longer & it would have been sucked into the engine . 'I've been running only one screen but I can't see how that would affect it . Could be all the track work with high rpm shifts etc .....
Anyone else had this .

Ha ha - no I have the 2nd one to put back in but I'm thinking Team's idea may be better for the track .
Was not keen to leave both screens out for the street because someone tried it earlier & had all sorts of stalling problems .
Thanks again for the switch Swoope . Fitted it on Friday & it is all good .

That would have to be one hell of a vibration!
The screen possesses almost no inertia. At most, it only sees 37 lbs of air go by.
It would take hundreds of pounds of air before you would even see deflection.
No, this screen got pounded by something physical - either during a filter replacement or removal.

I experience a similar situation as yourself in and when I took apart my Revi to clean the air filter I notice the screen was torn. Much the same as yours but not as bad. I put it down to perhaps my carelessness during installation. I'm now reconsidering that assumption.
Needless to say I installed the other screen however I think I may check it this weekend and clean the maf while I'm at it.
I recall something in the Revi installation instructions about the importance of those screens, can't recall details.

I'm can't be 100% positive on whether I damaged the screen at some time or not.
But I am 100% positive that it was never that badly torn last time I took the intake apart .
Also - it was torn (not as bad) on the opposite side as well .
My theory is that I had an explosion in the intake somehow .
I know I had a huge explosion/backfire in the exhaust last week .........

Damn! Pardon my ignorance, but if you've got the Revi with Ram air, then to get to the screen(if it was some object), it would've had to travel all the way up the duct...into the box, the get through the filter.....right? Jeez! When you discovered this, you didn't find anything in the bix? Did the filter have any tears in it? Maybe you did have flames coming out the front of your car!

Don't have the REVI - just stock with RB duct .
What's a "bix" ?
Filter is fine - its a K&N so is stronger than paper element.
