I will start off by saying I should've done my homework before buying this car. Good car, fair price, drove great, loved it, so I bought it. Turned out it was in a crash before, and the previous owner so conveniently forgot to mention it. The repair job that was done could generously be called half-assed.

I took it to the dealership to have a new front lip put on after it decided to eat a parking curb After the tried to put it on, they realized that the front bumper would not come off Upon more inspection I noticed that the drivers side headlight bracket is broken off and the fender and bumper and bent in to hold it in place. There is some other obviously shotty work done as well.

But, my reason for posting this thread is to ask if this kind of a situation is worth fixing? I would like to have the peace of mind knowing that my RX-8 is as perfect as it can be, and this kind of thing bothers me. But is it worth the $$$ and will it really affect anything I would need to do to the car (repairs, modifications, paint, etc). I don't know where it would be welded, but I'm guessing the brackets that hold the bumper to the body??? Not too savvy in this area. Any comments or advice would be much appreciated!!!

 

I would get it fixed; it will make some of your maintenance chores a lot easier.
