A/C & Heater Blower fan keeps stopping
Starting about 2 years ago, the A/c Blower fan would not blow when starting the car at random times. The dealer first replaced the A/C fan controls in the dash. Within a couple of weeks, the fan would not run again at start. So the dealer replaced the fan motor itself.
Now two years later, it is starting again. In the last month, the fan (set at 3 or 4) would not kick on when starting the car. Once messing with the controls it started and another time once I hit freeway speed the fan suddenly kicked in. The fan has always had somewhat variable speeds regardless of the what speed was actually set. Funny enough backing up and hitting the brakes makes the blower run the fastest - go figure.
Now I am wondering what to expect at the next dealer visit. They have seemingly replaced both major components already. Living in Houston, no A/C as the summer approaches is a non-starter as I have to wear a suit most of the time.
Ideas?

It could be a power issue, or it could be the compressor not working. check belts and alternator. (Our Alternator kinda suck, rated at 100amp, but I will give it 90 AMP tops, or maybe less)

This has happened to me pretty much since I bought the car new. The blower fan died on me earlier today. This will be the 3rd time this year I'll get it replaced and I'm not sure if it's the 5th or 6th fan total since buying the car in Nov of 04.

The dealer has now replaced the fan motor twice, the fan controls twice and the latest fix was the a/c amplifier.
The fan speed on 4 is still slower than the fan speed on 2 in my wifes Tribute. At least it has not stopped working lately.
I have to close off the passenger vent and focus the three remaining vents on my face. If I am parked outside, in the mid-day sun in Houston, it takes about ten minutes before I even start to feel 'cool'. The velocity is just too slow. I would be happy to wrap the a/c pipes under the hood and buy a turbo-charged fan, but I have yet to find a fan upgrade.

Blower motor Dies again
Found my old thread - as the problem is back.....
Well the temperatures are back in the 90's (or close) in Houston, so another blower motor has bitten the dust. Dealer says motor has 'short' and will be replaced.
This will be fan # 4 (maybe more) for this car (2005, 24K miles, garaged 100%).
The dealer states these are not commonly failure parts except for me....
They will have replaced the a/c controls twice, the a/c amplifier once and many fans... Car battery was replaced once.
Arrgh!
Dealer has no clue why it happens, but the fan basically dies after one summer in Houston. I asked if the firewall was missing some insulation or something. Something is smoking these motors.
I pretty much run the fan on 3 or 4 all the time due to the usual temp in Houston (hot, humid, or both), but as you can see, I do not actually drive that much per year (~4000 mi/year)
Any one else experience this or have any ideas on what would keep blowing up a/c fan motors? At least the car engine is still running great.
Really really glad I bought the extended warranty, but it will run out next year, so I would like to find the root cause as Mazda wants way too much for a fan.
