A/C Screatch
04 Manual with 35K on it.
I start my car after work, roll down the windows and drive for a little bit then turn the A/C on.
When I turn the A/C on I hear a short screatch. The A/C works fine but I was curious if this is something I need to be concerned with.
I didn't notice it last summer.
Thanks

35,000 miles I just had the 30,000 mile service done to it. I was thinking belt but wanted to see if anyone else had an issue.
Thanks, belts can be fixed easy enough.

Mine's done it, too but it seems to work ok in these 103 degree days that we've been having. First time I heard it, I was somewhat startled because it really didn't sound like a loose belt but more like the compressor had been locked up.

It has cooled off up hear in DE over the last few weeks and I haven't heard it at all. I believe it was definitly something to do with the heat we were having.
Thanks for the feedback.

If it is hot out the belt will get bigger.
When it is cold the belt will constrict...
Get your belts adjusted, a loose belt will cause more wear to it.
To check twist the belt if it can turn perpendicular (90 degrees) to its normal position then it needs to be tightened.
This is even more important on UD pulleys since there is less surface area than the normal pulley.
