Car overheating above 4k rpm
#26
Hmm that coolant sensor can be faulty. Its a known issue, the magnet could be sticking at the bottom of the reservoir tank. I had this happen to me when i flush my radiator for the first time, I unpluged the dam sensor and the light dissappeared (read somewhere here that if the light was gone when the sensor was unplugged, you have a bad sensor. If the light remains theres another issue). I removed the assembly shooked the coolant reservoir until i heard the sensor moving freely quickly filled it up and it worked fine. Lol then i had to get a new petcock valve for my radiator cause it was leaking and had to drain it again and the sensor i got stuck >.<. I just unplugged it and called it a day, I constantly check to see if it has enough fluid when i fill up on gas.

whats normal operating temperature for the car? I know the light also means fluid level but its at the right location in the resivoir. Maybe my sensor is bad, the needle never moves for the temp but i usually dont let it go that long with the light on.
Also, if the sensor is bad is there a reason it would only do it above 4k rpm?

You can call me anything you wish if that's my problem lol .. I have heard of this issue but did not think this would be the sensor since it only happened above 4k ... also new that 84 was not hot but could not figure out the light was still goin off ... so sensor it is huh .. that's to easy

So I finally got my car back from the dealer and they replaced the thermostat. They did a few test and measured the line with a laser thermometer and said that the actual lines, etc... was not overheating.
Drove the car around to see if i can replicate the previous issue. So far so good.
As for some other tests they did, they did mention that my car was misfiring and recommended getting a tune up (plugs, coils, etc..) It seems like I will be placing an order very soon with BHR.

I have been having the same problem. The temp gauge does NOT fluctuate, but the red coolant light randomly comes on for a minute or so then goes back off. Coolant reservoir is at normal level. So there have been known problems with the sensor?

Its funny that i found this thread. When my car was stock, it did this also, jsut when setting the cruise on a summer day at around 75mph the dash light would come on. Throw the car in neutral and coast for about five seconds and the light would go off and all would be fine for another ten minutes... then the light would go on again and so forth.

The Greek temple light fails at random times its just a coolant level sensor nothing else. Keep an eye on your coolant level and unplug the sensor bang problem solved. Now who's going to pay my $5 pay palfee.
Also my car sits between 180 and 200 degrees.
