Car running like sh@t

year? Mileage? Auto/MT? Last service, and what's been done in terms of replacing things under the hood? Do you let it warm up before driving it hard?
Could be bad coils, bad wires, worn spark plugs or a dirty MAF.
Also, low compression, jammed intake ports or a dirty throttle body.
The stuff on the top is relatively cheap. The stuff on the bottom, not so much.

Depends on the last time you did this but, it sounds like it needs to be serviced. Plugs, plug wires and coils. Also for good measure a maf cleaning and new air filter. That should be a good start.

yup. no sense in doing plugs without coils and wires at this point. Bad coils/wires foul perfectly good spark plugs.
You might want to take it to the dealer and have a compression test done on it before anything. It would suck to spend a few hundred bucks on coils wires and plugs to find out you need a new engine. If it's running as bad as you say, they should do it for free under your 100,000 mile engine warranty.

Had to get the car towed home yesterday my mechanic thinks my backbox may be damaged, i'm waiting on the sparks to be fitted today and original exhaust put back on also it seemed to have drunk a ridiculous amount of engine coolant had lots of smoke coming from beneath the bonnet and bits of like molten metal coming out the exhaust when revved.

Drinking coolant... where does the coolant go?
White smoke... white smoke means burning coolant. Answers the question above.
Why are you burning coolant? Probably because you're leaking coolant into your engine... How?, you have probably overheated your engine caused by factory defects of just lack of oil in the oil metering pump, or just lack of oil. You don't sound like the type that tops off the oil after every other fuel-up. (No offense)
So, the coolant seals on the side of your engine have started leaking, which means your engine will need replaced. Or rebuilt if the housings are too ruined... in any case, its labor intensive.
I don't think i have symbol for pounds on my keyboard, but this gives you the idea: $,$$$.$$
I don't believe the UK has the same 100,000 mile power train warranty as the U.S. So you may be paying out the nose for this one.
. . . . . . But this is worst case. Hopefully its plugs, wires and coils, the smoke is actually just unburnt fuel cause by crappy ignition, and the bits of molten metal out of the exhaust is bits of your cat.
Hopefully.

There is no way to bodge it up to make the engine work properly. In fact, if there are little bits of metal shooting around your engine you're literally trashing it the more you drive.
I forgot the original information, but mazda has a 8 year 100k mile warranty on the core engine (which sound like your problem)
So I would pursue that warranty first.

It actually did turn out to be ignition coils, I'm never using the mechanic I use normally as it turned out he didn't have a ******* clue what he was talking about, in the end it cost me £600 for coils and labour but it still idles quite low round 700 rpm how can I get this up ??
