Car Stalled After Oil Change
Hi guys,
I know a lot of you guys are more of a "gear head" than me. But when I got my oil change yesterday my 04 RX-8 stalled at a red light after driving my car for a while. This is actually the second time my car stalled (first one in Aug 08) and they both stalled at a red light. After my first stall I went to Mazda and have them do a 30k service (i.e new spark plugs, pcm reflash, etc..) On both occassions I noticed my RPM's dropped significantly well below 1000 rpm's and I can feel the loss of engine power. However no engine light came on what so ever and I was eventually able to start my car after 2 mins (it did struggle though after a few cranks) I know the oil change had nothing to do with this but I do live in a hot climate (Arlington, TX). The temp yesterday was around 80 deg which is not really hot. The first time my car stalled, I can recall the temp was well above 90 deg. Could this be an issue climate wise? Is this prone only to rotary engines? Summer will start soon here in TX and I dont want my car stalling at every red light or have my rpm's drop below 1000. Any thoughts? If it happens again I'm really considering trading my car away which I really don't want to give up. Let me know what you all think?
FYI....I have on AT 04 RX-8 with 34,600 mi on it bought used. I only put premium gas on every fill ups. Also did my oil change and any car maintainace at an authorized Mazda dealer.
