car wont start.

my car isn't starting

I drove the car Friday night everything was fine. started the car back it out and shut it down - started it up and parked it undercover in the space of 20min. and it was running a little rough but nothing alarming.

the car will wind-over and I hear the usual cranking and engine turning over. however it doesn't seem like it is getting spark. it doesn't even cough.

it is flooding when trying to start but I don't think the issue was flooding in the first place.

I have never had flooding issues with the car. the one time it did flood because of the greddy emanage I pulled the injector fuse cranked the car. when I put the fuse back in it fired straight up. I tossed the emanage and now flash tune and I have never had problems. the tune I'm on has been good for over 3 months without issue so I don't think it is a flash problem.

I know it is flooding or getting fuel at the moment. I have an innovate gauge and it goes rich when it cant start. it is still around 14-15 a/f so it isn't stupidly rich. I've unplugged the injector fuse and brought the A/F back to over 18. no difference.

I pulled a plug to check their condition. front rotor trailing plug since it is easy to get to. clean and looked like new. they are about 5-10K km old.

the coils are as old as the car (5 years) but haven't shown any sign of failure. I would just replace them all but that will cost about $400 over here (.au).

I need to check for spark any suggestion on how to go about it?
any other suggestions?

Hey mate,
Not sure if have the time to go this route: www.finishlineperformance.com ~$30 US per coil. Should replace them if they are 5 years old based on what everyone here says.

cheers

did you try the choke start sequence where you hold the gas down and try cranking the car for like 7 seconds then off position then try to start the car....

something like that i was reading the owners manual the other day i just picked up my rx8 friday

i also noticed the past couple days, it took a while to crank in the morning compared to the evening, it took a couple seconds longer. [until today]
