Car wont start. Antenna? Key? No idea.
I have an 06 GT and am having starting issues. The issue is it will not start what so ever.
I have the smartkey (credit card style one) and misplaced the spare valet key that came along with it.
Car unlocks/locks with the buttons on the key and the trunk opens. Buttons on the car doors do NOT work and the car acts as if the key is not inside (wont let you turn the ****).
For a few weeks the car was having issues with reading the key but would turn on when I jiggled the battery around. I didn't think much of it, only a dying battery. Turns out that wasn't the case. Now its stuck in the driveway and no luck starting it.
I replaced the battery twice already to check if it was just a faulty new one.
I have read that there have been issues with faulty antennas (mainly the back under the bumper). The threads I have seen that talked about this were able to start some of the time.
I am just curious before I dive into taking the bumper off if this could even be the problem or would there be an easy solution to check out first.
Taking it to the dealer is a last resort, there is only one locally and I have sworn away from using them.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
