Car won't start, jumped it twice

I have an 06 mazda rx8 shinka with 35k miles. i noticed it started having a hard time starting the past few days but only in the morning when it was cold so i didn't think too much about it. this morning however i tried to start it and it strained for a while and then stopped, i tried it again and it clicked, i waited and tried it again and it whined again the stopped. i tried it again right after and then there was no click. well i got a jump and it still wouldn't start until i had the other car hovering around 3k rpm then it started. i drove it for a while and then stopped. The next time i went to start it it whined again and then started up, and i went to working thinking the drive would charge it up enough. well i was wrong, tried to start it again and it just clicks, so i got another jump and it started up just fine. i got it home and checked some things out on it to see if i could find anywhere that it was getting drained from but couldn't. turned it off and then let the fan come on and then turn off and tried again but all i get is clicking now. i check the battery with my volt meter and it said it was putting out 12 volts. also my stereo and everything electronic works fine. could this be the starter, the battery, or something more?

First have the battery charged and load tested, then make sure the connections are clean & tight; lastly check the charging system, should put out 14.4 volts.

I would put money on your battery being shot. So get that tested first. Also make sure your battery cables are tight. Have alternator checked too while you're at it..can't hurt.

You should go to autozone or any auto parts store like that and have your battery tested, it might be starting right now but it could leave you stranded again.
