Angry Car wont start and sounds like a Kazoo

Hey guys..well..my car won't start. It's an 04 has approximately 33k miles on it. I flooded it once, and know that it is not flooded this time. I drove it for about 40 minutes before I parked it. Left it for a week while I went on a cruise. It was covered in snow when I returned, cleared it all off, tried to start it...and....nothing.

Tried jumpstarting it, didn't work. Called AAA and had them come out, the man said it is definitely not the battery and that the battery has more than enough juice in it.

So, when I turn the key, it cranks, doesn't make a clicking noise, but making sort of an "engine trying to work" noise, except nothing ever grabs. When I remove the key from the ignition, the engine make a winding noise like a kazoo, it's high pitched and unlike anything I've heard before.

Any ideas? I had no problems with the car prior to leaving it here in St Louis for a week while I went on vacation.

This statement would only be correct if you then tried to start it about an hour later.

Classic way to flood an 8, you unsuccessfully tried to start a cold engine.

There were none of the signs of flooding that I had last time, none at all. No gas smell, no emmissions nothing.

It's something, obviously, with the engine, hence the kazoo noise.

thanks though for the response, i appreciate it.

Sounds like you don't have a garage and with is being so cold fixing this yourself sounds like a pain. Your going to have to bring it to a dealer or shop that knows rotary's.

EDIT: It is also common for the air pump to make a noise like the one you heard on cold start ups.

Yea, ugh. I'm planning on having it towed tomorrow, I have no idea what the issue might be.

did you try to do the flooded procedure? because it's easy for RX8 to get flooded, i don't know...i think it's better for you to do the flooded procedure, and you see from there
