Neighbors man, neighbors. there was a thread last month about a guy who had his 8 towed for working on it in the parking lot/garage where he lived. thats why i bring it up

ok, so I just got the starter replaced, and I guess I was wrong about it, it wasn't the starter's issue.. the battery is fine, the starter is also fine, I am not sure what possibly could be the problem.... any thoughts?

Also, the mechanic I hired told me that it could be the compression problem which I know nothing about..

i admit it has to be very frustrating.. slow cranking would normally be attributed to the battery and then the starter.

it has to be something electric.. obviously.. maybe the harness? or a bad ground?

It's not about the room, cause I could have a plenty of room,, but the problem is the floor is inclined which makes it impossible to push it by two or three ppl. I mean, I tried, and I couldn't,, I guess I'll need like 5-7 people at least

Can you go the other way. You know...down hill? seriously though grab a friends car with a toe rope and have them pull you by your toe hooks. They are in your trunk and screw in to the corners of your front grill or rear bumper.

You are missing 1 or 2 of 3 things: fuel, Air, spark.

If starter and battery are fine I would suspect flooding. Check the deflooding procedures. After that I would suspect fouled spark plugs.

After that I would suspect failed fuel pump. That's really all you have left.

Poor compression engine will not cause your engine to flat our not start.

Hey to chime in for re-assurance... I had some real problems with my 8 2 months ago and I was in the same boat. Ready to sell, upset, didn't understand at all what was going on what was wrong.

You'll get to the bottom of this and hopefully it won't damage the wallet that much and you will still enjoy the car. Plus I bet you're learning more about your car because of this issue than you ever did before.

So, try and stay positive.

Also... if you go into your trunk. there is a plastic box at the very back (rear of the car) that contains your jack. In there you will find 2 large Bolts with circles on top. These are your tow hooks.

Yea,, I guess I need some patience.. I'll try to get towed to the dealership I guess, this is the only choice I have,, so, if the engine has problem/needs to be replaced,, would that be under the warranty?

Engine, yes... if it lack of compression or failure of some other component. I think the starter is under warranty too, but I'm not sure.

Do you have any local RX8 club people that could come take a look before you go the dealership route?

Well, you don't say where you're from in your sig... I could go back and read the thread and find, or just ask you.

I would suggest posting in the regional forums based on where you're at. (if your someplace stateside) and see if anyone is willing to help you out.

My fear is that its something simple like the engine flooded, and then the battery drained.
The fact that it cranks sort of rules out starter to me... but I could be wrong.

I got the starter replaced,, and one thing I noticed is that the battery didn't have enough water, so I had to fill it in

Yeah, try posting in the regional forum before doing the dealer... maybe someone will be able to help you out before you have to pay for the help... but it may cost you 12 pack and have to fir their schedule.
