CE Light on (P0507)

Hey,
I own a 2005 rx8 with a little over 15k miles on it. I took it into the dealer this past Friday (February 15th) for oil change, tire rotation, full inspection etc. Well no more than 4 days have passed and now I'm seeing my first CE light ever on this car. I'm starting to regret taking it in to the dealer for oil change when nothing major was wrong and I could have done it myself. Anyways, have any of you seen this/ have any idea what this means? Is it a simple computer fix or is something more major? I plan on calling the dealer tomorrow to speak with someone in service about it but figured you guys probably know more than some of them.

I have the RX-8 manual, and this code comes up if the actual RPM is 200 over the targeted RPM (as set by the PCM).

The most likely cause is a vacuum leak. Check your hoses.
Otherwise is could be due to a senson malfuction.
Drive by Wire control system
IAT
MAF- Check to see if dirty/contaminated
ECT
APP
Eccentric shaft position sensor
PCM

Really all you can do at home is check your vacuum hoses and IAT/MAF for contamination.

Weird, I thought my issue was the neutral switch but my car finally threw this code as it has been idling high occasionally.

I'm going to check the MAF/IAT and the vacuum lines, any other thoughts? I don't see any other mentions of this code on the forum. I've cleaned my TB quite well recently so I don't think its that.

I've cleaned the MAF and checked the vacuum lines that I can reach without removing the intake. I'll check the one under the intake tomorrow. Whats weird is that I can reset the ECU and the car is fine for a while, then the issue comes back. I would think a vacuum issue would be constant. Anyways I'll get after it tomorrow. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

I own a 2004 throwing the same code it seems to be coming up as a purge canister Valve. I'll post when I get a chance to replace it and see if it fixes it

If you're responding to the OP, I think he's figured it out by now.

Start by looking at your OBD data and any codes that are present. Ot sounds like a vacuum leak through a cracked hose. You fuel trims should be near zero and airlfow neae 5g/sec at 800 rpm idle. Is the cat also deleted since the air pump is?

I would guess the rpm drops coincide with air conditioner compressor kicking on, see if it still does it with the ac and ventilation system fully OFF.

yes feed header turbo xs high flow cat with turbo xs cat back air pump is deleted ac was not on at all. Also have aem air intake iv tried clean maf sensor didnt work. I am throwing a cod for secondary air injection pump. It idles ok and then randomly drops to 500 and then goes up to 1k i used 1 can of loquimolly fuel cleaner and it seemed to help so im going to run another one thru. Im thinking a clogged injector but im not 100% sure. I do hear a suction when stepping on the gas behind the intake so maybe one of my vacuum lines does have a crack in it ill have to pull intake off and check.

Most fuel cleaners that could help with a stuck injector are the same chemicals that are added to fuel to keep things from clogging in the first place. Also injector clogs typically manifest at high load when more fuel is required. So I doubt it's that.

I would look at those fuel trims and airflow numbers before you tske things apart. It sounds like a vacuum leak. That would confirm it.
