Cel p0336

So I went to start my 8 this morning. I Could tell the battery was weak, but for some reason this morning it took two cranks to get it started. The cel it gave me was this:

P0336 Eccentric shaft position sensor circuit range/performance problem
ON 1 CCM ´ (See DTC P0336 )

Can anywone please help me clairfy that for me?

Thanks!

You either are going to need a new battery soon or have a loose ground to battery My guess is battery is dying. if you have it the battery tested it might test good but cause our cars are so special they need batteries with alot of cold cranking power. Helpful hint, plug a memory saver into your car before disconnecting battery and you could be saving yourself alot of trouble

The sensor is magnetic and metallic crap can build up on the face (and body on 2004-2005 models) over time

Mazda changed the front cover in 2006 to enclose the sensor body so that only the face is exposed

so it turns out that me just going under the hood found the prob. The coil closest to the cabin refuses to hold the wire in place. it holds it for now but it dosent click in like it should. i recentaly came back from afghan and had to replace the plugs just to get it to start. I replaced both plugs and wires. I know i need to replace the coils soon but now its just a good exceuse to do it now! lol. Thanks for all the help put on here.

I have my emissions test today and I failed it because of my starter I believe. I recently bought a new starter and it worked fine for a few months. It was an aftermarket 2W starter which was amazing at first. Now it is back to the "I hope it starts with no problems" thought. Its a 2005 MT with only 64.6k miles on it too.

So I pull up and the guy shuts off my car, plugs in the plug and tries to start it. He couldn't get it because he had no idea how to start the car that sometimes it takes more than 2 seconds to start our cars. So I ended up trying multiple times and finally got it on.

By the time I got the car to start the CEL went on. I don't know what is wrong with my car. Why does it go through starters like appetizers.
