Change in the sound of your exhaust
If for no reason the sound of your exhaust changes to that of a riced out civic or an old moped it just might be a large hole in a pipe. I was on the track this Friday and in addition to a P0302 Misfire the sound of the exhaust also changed. I thought it might have been related to the misfire. Once I got home and looked under the car I saw the hanger right before the differential broke off. I didn’t go off track or hit anything so I am not sure why it broke. I patched the hole with a cheap Auto Zone repair and the pipe is not loose so I will wait till a used one hits the boards. That pipe by the way is from a Greddy SP2 and has 76,000 miles on it.

The box had those large staples in it, don't see them used much these days. It also seems I might in fact have three months left on the Greddy Warranty. I have some calls to make tomorrow, thanks RxJaye.

I need to look in my RX-8 file more often.
Not only do I have the invoice from the site I purchased the SP2 from back in 2004 I have the customer copy of the warranty registration card I filled out. Dam I am forgetting a lot more stuff since turning 40
I just scanned all that and emailed it to the address on http://www.greddy.com/gpp/

saw something very similiar on an Evo we had in the shop 2 weeks ago. hanger pulled right off the exhaust, but it was up around the midpipe area.
Hope they replace it for you, but if not, just have someone patch it then weld the hanger back on.

I will know for sure next week but it looks like I will be getting a whole new exhaust, It did require some work. The site I bought it from was not a authorized Greddy reseller. So I had to get them to contact whom they got the SP2 from and that company needed to contact Greddy. My filling out the warranty card was also a big plus. If I didn't I would have only been covered the first year. The other thing that went in my favor was Greddy now has a NE office about 30 miles from me and The person I talked to was cool. The key thing I learned is when you purchase parts with a warranty make sure they are an authorized reseller or find out how they got the part. I was not going to post till the exhaust was in my hand, you never know what ccould go wrong but I think I am ok on this one.

Greddy Comes Through
Picked up and installed my replacement SP2 today, Sure looks nice compaired to the almost 3 year old / 70,000 mile one. But looking over the welds they all were still good. The weld was so strong it took a section of pipe with it. Lesson learned is to send in that warranty card and make sure you ask if the retailer is an authorized dealer. Looks like any future exhausts I buy will be a Greddy. I couldn't help but make a short VIDEO right ckick / save as of my 8 with no exhaust, notice the dark stain on the right side of the tank, that is from the dime sized hole in the exhaust. Things could have been worse.
