CT Check Engine Blinking

Hi there,

So I love to death my rx8, it's been about 5 months since I bought it from someone from New York. Last Saturday I was finally driving it on the highway, since I just got it registered and I wanted to see the real potential of it. So I speed up a little bit, shift some gears and when I hit the 5th or 6th gear at high RPM I see the CHECK ENGINE BLINKING and right away the car losses it's power, then I stopped the car and turned off and on again I started to drive back home wondering what have happened, with the car working normal.

So any ideas before I take it to the dealer

Thanks Tiago...

go to your local parts store and run the code. even if the light isnt on the ecu should have stored it. mine has done that during some heavy fun and if you just get off it for a minute the power returns, my code was multiple misfires... i think it cuts power to save the engine???
hope that helps

It means your coil is failing under load. Replace all 4 with something new.

Read the thread or the many like it, it was covered in here. If you are having a misfire then you should start by replacing ignition components. Get new plugs and coils and install them. If you want to go a cheaper route then test your coils(search, should be at least 1 DIY on it) and see which ones are bad and only replace those but most people replace them all at once.

I might just test my coils and replace what i need to for a quick fix then upgrade to a BHR ignition kit asap.

My last day of work was this week and I need a quick fix so I can save up for the BHR kit !
