Christmas tree dash and gauges don't work HELP!

So I was installing some simple LEDs in a friend's rx8 by accessing the dimmer switch.
In the process of doing this (in the dark ) I accidentally bridged two wires incorrectly and every warning light on the instrument cluster came on and none of the gauges work.

I tried disconnecting the battery, clearing any DTCs with my OBD2 scanner, checked every single fuse the car has, etc.

Need less to say I undid any changes to the wiring immediately

Can some one please help me find a solution! I don't want to have to buy my buddy a new instrument cluster!

Chances are you blew a fuse. Did you check all the fuses?

Are you just "visually" checking the fuses? Or are you using a circuit tester? I'd recommend using a circuit tester.

The instrument cluster is fed by the CANbus so you could have fried the chip that drives the instrument cluster. Luckily used instrument clusters are not that expensive.
