Hi guys, just got my rx-8....i know nothing about rotary engines..other than keeping up with oil change often and oil fill up every 2 gas fill ups and so on....

my problem is, i opened the hood, and the damn thing is dirty as heck...i was thinking of cleaning it up with a degreaser, and soft water pressure...but im not sure, what to avoid if at all, or to have the engine on or off when using water to spray it....ANY HELP PLEASE?

i dont want to cause any problems..because i used all my saved money to buy this car...i dont have more to replace an engine if i mess it up by doing it wrong....
