Climate Control Issue - A/C & Defrost Switches

Hey everyone, I recently purchased my first RX-8. She's an 04 MT with 69k miles. I must say I completely love the car. However, for some reason or another, my A/C switch on the dash is always on when my fan is on. When I push it, it stays lit. Also, my windshield defrost button is the same way except the opposite, it's always off. Not sure what is causing this, any ideas?

do you have the temperature adjustment **** all the way to the left to MAX? because at that position AC would be on if you have the fan on.

It is on regardless of what temperature. It indicates that it is on even when I have the temperature at Max heat. Could it have something to do with the A/C amplifier? I'm not sure if the previous owner ever got the updated version or if it's still the original.

also what position your vents at? if you setting it to blowing at your foot wells and dash, the AC would be on no matter what.

I've tried every mode, it doesn't go off no matter what I do. I tried finding stuff about similar issues both on here and the web at large and haven't managed to find anything.

Haha yeah that's what I thought. I'm not extremely car savvy so Idk what in the world it might be. The A/C amp was all I could think of and that was only because I had read about the update lol

Your not alone, my A/C will randomly be one when I start my car or if I just turn the fans off but I'm not as far gone as you since I can turn it off... When I bought the car the previous owner added in the AUX port for the stereo and I'm just figuring that they made a mistake and I just live with my situation

have yall done the re-soldering technic or the self diagnostic to see if the position control sensor is faulty?
