clutch doesn't engage properly??
hello,
i have 04, has about 75,000km on it. about 60k mile.
i am having this problem.
when i step on my gas hard, like all the way, on my 3rd~4th when i;m going about 30mils per hour??
my rpm gauge goes up, then it comes down and my car starts to speed up.
it sounds like my clutch is slipping, having hard time engaging.
it still does it when my foot is totally off the clutch.
it only like this when step on my gas hard on medium speed (20~30miles) on high gears.
is this normal??
or do i need to replace my clutch???
i tried to put my car in 3rd gear with e-brake, and slowly put my foot off my clutch to see if i need to replace my clutch but my car stalled. it didn't even try to stay alive.
please help

Have you done anything with your clutch (including the pedal)?
Something like that could be from air in the lines, to a bad slave cylinder, and even the clutch pedal adjustments.
First start with the easy stuff:
1) Verify the clutch pedal stroke is about 5.12" (distance the pedal travels from its "up" position to its hard stop against the firewall).
2) Verify that the clutch pedal play is 1/8" - 1/4".
This is the distance between when the pedal is up, to where you put your foot on the pedal and first feel resistance as the pedal's rod is hitting the master cylinder inside the hard pipe.
Basically, just make sure the rod has a little bit of play before it makes contact inside the hard pipe. 1/8" - 1/4" isn't much.
3) Bleed the clutch line.

my clutch was bleed when i installed my new slave cylinder.
and yesterday i adjusted my clutch pedal
i set my stroke as 5inch and freeplay as 1/2".
should i try to change it to 5.12" and freeplay to 1/8~1/4"???

I moved my pedal rod in so that it barely had play.
Enough that you can barley move the pedal in before you feel resistance, but not so much that it was constantly pushing in on the master cylinder.

5" stoke is fine... that is what mine is set to. I would go further in with the pedal play.
I moved my pedal rod in so that it barely had play.
Enough that you can barley move the pedal in before you feel resistance, but not so much that it was constantly pushing in on the master cylinder.

Hey, I've been having very similar problems except my clutch seems to be slipping even in 1st and 2nd gear when I give it quite a bit of gas. It also kinda started to smell bad (burnt clutch smell) a couple of times
My 8 has about 74,000 kms, any idea how long more less our clutches usually last? I was thinking I had to replace it for sure, but i haven't tried adjusting my clutch pedal yet.
