Took my car in prior to the winter holiday and was told by the service writer to bring the car back after the new year. Took it in today and just got a call back stating that Mazda was going to offer no support with the broken clutch bracket.
Jedi54 suggested that I pm Charles about this issue, as you may have more "raw" numbers on how many cars have been affected by the bracket failures.
pm being sent.

I sent couple of message thru *Contact us* on NHTSA.
but so far nothing came back.
Im not sure if this is Mazda Japan or MNAO ... but I have a feeling is just morons @ MNAO being a jackass about it ... and they wonder why they cant beat Honda's sales numbers ... we laugh at Honda guys all the time ... yeah, but they laugh at us when our great company Mazda refuse to fix their own freaking mess(Clutch Bracket).
I cant breath ... I laugh so hard ..... STOP !!!!!

yeah, I do slip the clutch more than most people, but I CAN GUARANTEE that you would slip the clutch as well in my car.....
...many, MANY, people have driven my car and have commented on how bad the clutch engagement is in my car. I never realized how different my car was until we got our second RX8....it was only after driving that one that I realized there has always been something different about my car. The clutch just never has seemed to disengage properly.
After burning through my stock/OEM clutch, I thought I would "upgrade" things...with the hopes that things would improve...but nothing has seemed to make any improvements.
I really do agree with one of the comments made earlier about the possibility that a faulty clutch bracket may have contributed to the transmission/clutch failures we have seen with 8's in general.
Here's an interested question....does anyone know if the clutch bracket in our car...if it is used in any other vehicles...like the Mazdaspeed3 or 6? If it is the same, are they experiencing any failures?

Umm.. that's why all my old freinds say you have to buy American.
They (Japanese) just don't know how to make tranny's, clutch, brackets and such.
Not like the O'l days with a Hurst shifter.

picking up the car tomorrow. I'm paying for Mazda to do the install. I'm going to ask that they take off 100 dollars from the previous work they did on the car as the bracket was broke and they did not notify me of that...instead, they simply adjusted the pedal and helped contribute to the snappage.
I'm just wanting to get the car sold and don't have the patience right now to fight....I would if I was planning on keeping the car.
I need to call tomorrow morning to remind them to keep the broken part. I would like to see it up close to see the failure.

How does a clutch pedal snap off? Like, the physical pedal itself, where you can reach from the driver's seat, or something inside the car itself, somewhere you cannot reach from the driver's seat?
I'm approaching 32,000mi, but one thing I've always done is be gentle with the clutch. Quick, firm, but gentle.

You should search CRH + Clutch Bracket post for detail information
basically is, the weld on the clutch bracket is weak from factory, after a certain period of time, depends on your *luck*, the weld gets weaker and weaker, one day the weld just *break* and you cannot shift/go into gear anymore.
I was lucky that mine breaks when I just parked my car and was just trying to put my gear into 1st to lock it and *Snap*, it just broke.
Imagine if it happen to you when you're doing highway @ 60 mph and you cant go into gear nothing (or locked in your gear)
Just close your eyes and imagine ...

my bracket broke on the left side when I was shifting on the hiway going about 65mph..luckly I was still able to shift and get the car home, only had a problem getting it in reverse..now the dealership is trying to tell me its not under warranty because it may have been caused by my clutch being wore out and they want to replace that too..I have 67,000mi and the clutch felt fine up until I heard a loud POP! when the bracket broke.

Thats what I told them.. a worn clutch shouldnt cause the petal bracket to break..thats just crazy..their now going to replace it under warranty and I'm filing a complaint with the NHTSA..somebodys not going to be as lucky when that thing breaks and Mazda really needs to address this problem.
