Clutch pedal whiring sound when depressed

Hi all,

I have an issue Id appreciate some input on. I had a whiring sound start to appear in my old clutch over the space of a month or so.

It would make the sound right about the point the clutch disengages as the pedal is pushed, remains making the sound whilst the pedal is held there, and goes away whenever the pedal is released or fully depressed. It only occurs when the engine is running, with the engine off there is a very slight squeeking noise as the clutch pedal is depressed. No other issues in changing gear etc.

Believing it to be a thrust bearing failing (and having to pull the box for an unrelated issue anyway), I had a shop put another exedy OEM clutch kit in with a replacement metal bodied throwout bearing - rather than the plastic item that comes in the kit.

I got the car back and the sound is still there. Im at a lost as to what else could be causing this, and no one else seems to have had a similar issue that wasn't fixed with a new TB.

Any ideas, particularly personal experience, appreciated.
