Clutch Switch TSB
Good Morning Everyone,
I noticed about a month ago that my clutch pedal was making a squeaking noise when engaged and disengaged.
I saw a couple of other threads on the forums here about several people who have had this issue.
I called my dealership this morning and they said it’s not covered under warranty because I am over 50,000 miles. Is this true? If it true, how much do you think it will run me?
SIDE NOTE:
Another concern I am having is when my transmission is warm/hot due to driving, it becomes very very hard for me to put into any gear. The other day, I couldn’t even put it into reverse after getting something to eat at restaurant. The strange thing is, when it’s cold, I have no problems. Its only when the car is real hot. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be?
Would the clutch switch be causing this? I'm not too up on all of this tech stuff when it comes to the clutch and trans, so please forgive me. Thanks in advance!

Ur dealership is right, the switch is not covered.
but what you should check is the Clutch Bracket itself, these weak *** brackets are known to fail. hmm u're at 50K miles. I assume that you're still running stock clutches and stuff. at 50K miles urs is about to fail.
For ur tranny, have you ever change ur tranny fluid ?

but either way, it sounds like ur clutch bracket is about to break. mine broke when I wasnt trying to drive (I got the gf's house, step in the clutch so I can lock the tranny into 1st gear and .... *crack*, bracket broke, lucky me)
oh also, change RP out, its not really great thing for Tranny. For Rear diff is great. but not Tranny. Use Redline MT-90 for ur tranny.

It was free for me, covered under warranty, but then they said this is a 1 time repair only cuz they say I might have aftermarket clutch (which I DID that time, not anymore tho). but come on, these brackets are known to fail. Mazda is playing the blame game again trying to deny more warranty claims. damn Mazda.
Oh the clutch bracket itself is like what less than 200 bux I think? You can replace it urself. is not very hard. just take maybe 1-2 hours if u never did it b4.
Its not about shifting hard or not. the bracket itself has weak welds, plus a design fault allows it to move left and right too much, making it easier to break.

Well, what ever it was, its completely shot now! I cant get the damn car into ANY gear! I'm guessing the clutch is gone................the strange thing is, there was no sign. Usually it starts to slip, right? I never got that, I only noticed the damn thing not going into gear when the transmission is hot.
What do you think?

clutch bracket
If you have the flywheel changed and the bracket broke, they are not related, if they are not wanting to cover it, you need a new dealership. Only if it was a direct cause of the problem, is it not covered or exceed the milage claim. Simply changing the flywheel (if done by someone reputable) is not the cause. If you put different spark plugs or never changed your oil and it died, then they could say negligence or performance mod was the direct cause. Sounds like crap to me.
