Code: PO1226

I bought a '04 8 about 4 weeks ago and had to take it to the dealer last week b/c of a cel. They said the computer was not receiving the engine coolant temp. from the sensor. The code was PO1226. I looked but could not find this code listed here. Does anyone know if this is common or exactly where the ECT sensor is located that could throw this code? Thanks for any help.

The code you have is actually Pzero126.....coolant not getting hot enough. The most likely problem could be that your thermostat is stuck open, or there is a problem with the Engine Coolant Temp (ECT) Sensor. The Engine Intake Air Temp Sensor is another possible cause. The ECT Sensor is on the RHS of the car, under the alternator. The IAT Sensor is immediately behind the airbox in the top of the air intake tube (from the airbox to the engine).

Check the connections to the sensors. If the coolant temp appears okay on the gauge and is approx mid gauge when the car is up to temp, the thermostat is probably alright. Good luck.

Gomez.

Read this thread and you will probably find that the answer to your question may be a bad flash of the PCM.

The temp gauge was reading normal so I think it was just a loose connection at the ECT sensor. It could have been the PCM causing it too. When I had it is for the cel I had them update it to the latest 'M' flash. Thanks for the help.

yep if nothing else is a problem then that code is being thrown by the bad flash. it was supposed to be fixed- but get this : ALL FLASHES ARE AGAIN HALTED. so even if you have the buggy flash they wont re-flash it at this time. everything is on hold until they track down some problems. again ALL FLASHES ARE HALTED.
