Compression test failed, New Engine Process questions
Hi All,
My 04 with 59K on it failed its compression test at the dealer after not starting when hot. I have a few questions about others who have had the same experiences.
They are asking for all my oil change history, before i get approved for warranty coverage. I have the ones from some quick lubes i have gone to but the one i did myself i have no way to prove it occurred. How do i do this? I paid cash for the parts and the only visual sign of the change is a NAPA oil filter.
How long does the replacement process normally take? They said a 3 days to a week from the day the engine arrives.
Does Mazda provide you a rental? Its hard being without a car for almost 2 weeks now.
Also it took the dealer 3 days to diagnose the problem. They decarbed twice and did a compression test with the cat on the car and with it removed. I'm assuming they are required to do that from a Mazda corporate level, because the TSB have nothing about that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You should have kept your receipts from buying oil and the filter when you changed it yourself. That will be a problem. Since mazda recommends every 5k or 7.5k to change the oil(depending on driving habits) maybe your lucky and do it every 3k and have the proper amount of receipts right now. Look at your receipts and see what the biggest gap in mileage is on them.

see if you can get your receipt for the oil filter from the store you purchased from. It's not a guarantee. But, it's worth a shot.
