Should I refill the coolant or change it to redline or royal purple?
Or is it because of the water pump?

to R888 : What about After 6000 rpm ? does it stays on or ?
and theres no such thing as *coolant* from RP or RL, they sell something that *lowers* the surface temp, but thats it. You can just mix them with coolants, any major brand is good. what I have now is Prestone 50/50 Mix it down to about 40/60 (I add a bit more of distilled water) + Redline's water wetter. Of which, Tomorrow Im going to drain everything out and This time is Peak 50/50 with Royal Purple's Ice. why no Distilled water this time? cuz its freaking cold this coming week so ... if I need them I will just add a bit of distilled water no biggy.

I would fill with 50/50 premixed coolant (that you don't have to add distilled water) and observe for a few days. Look for puddle underneath car the next day. Raise front end and get underneath and look at area around water pump to see if their is any green liquid anywhere under the car.

There is a history of defective coolant level sensors for the RX-8. I know a few guys here have had the light come on during hard driving even though their level is good. I've had it happen to me a few times, but I only see it under pretty constant g loading.

Nothing really.
if you worry, fill it up with 50/50 to about 1/2 of the coolant reservoir. Its hard to read the Max line I know, but if you look inside, you'll see the little gap in there. Anyway just fill it to about 1/2, drive it around see if there are leaks or lost of power, it not then, u're ok.

Anyway.....if you are under warranty then it won't matter....go get one.

If I remember correctly..............the sensor is molded into the overflow tank or some ****, so you have to get another tank.....right?

But to me, I mean, the sensor is nothing but a *on/off* sensor. if it comes on its already too low.
so just keep an eye on your coolant level, check regularly, u'll be fine.

yep you're right, the sensor is part of the bottle. you have to replace the whole thing to get it right.

Then I would of course take the old one apart and see what's up with it and have as a spare.
