Coolant Question

Coolant Question
So today while I'm driving I see my coolant light come on for the first time ever. I check my engine temp and it's looking fine. I kept driving and the light would come on and go off. When I get home I pop the hood and see a little coolant sprayed around the cap. I grab a towel and it's just sitting on there spinning freely. It's 90 degrees out with 50% humidity so I had the ac blasting. Is it possible that the psi on the cap is too low? It says it's a 13psi cap. Otherwise maybe it was a fluke and the cap just wasn't on tight enough.

Could have been a fluke. I would still double check your coolant in the morning and see if the coolant level is at the full line. The coolant tank sensor is know to go bad. So if you have getting a coolant light even though your coolany level is fine, the sensor may be going bad.

You should never think a pressure relief cap is "too low"... its rated for a certain amount for a reason.
Same reason you shouldn't swap out a 10A fuse for a 20A because it keeps blowing... there is a reason for that.
But like invasion8 said... check the fluid level and ensure the cap is secured.
The coolant level sensor is known to be a problem too.
