"cylinder" 2 misfire

I know ill get comments asking what a cylinder is because rotary engines don't have cylinders. But this is the code I am getting from the cel. My car only misfires on a cold start up and then once it is warm it is fine. I have changed the spark plug wires and two of the coils ( the two that are closest to the back of the engine). I am working on getting some extra money to buy the other two coils. My question is, if the cel code is saying I have a "cylinder" 2 misfire, did I replace the right coils or does one of the front two coils deal with "cylinder" 2?

tune up

the best thing is to save money & change all coil, wires&plugs at same time.

make sure spark plug wires are in right place and all ignition items are in good shape.

Hello,
Did you receive an answer to your question?
Im having the same issue and also want to know if cylinder 2 misfire corresponds to the 2 rear ignition coils
Thanks
Ken

A quick Google Image search yields this -

....and 'cylinder two' is the rear rotor.

that snake oil wont do **** for a misfire. 99% of misfires are ignition related

Cylinder 2 misfire STILL!!

Ok. So I had my automatic transmission replaced in my 2005 rx8 and it ran fine for about one day then as I was driving into town, only been driving it for about 15 minutes and I'm sitting at a stop light and once it turned green, I went to hit the gas and all of the sudden, like a flick of a switch, it started misfiring, had absolutely no response from the gas pedal and it just basically idled extremely rough as I rolled it to the side of the road then it died. It will start still but it struggles immensely to start and can barely keep itself running. In park I can floor it and the rpms will go up but very slowly and misfiring and backfiring the whole time to but will die if I let go of the gas. If I put it in drive or reverse, it will idle roughly but the gas pedal does literally nothing. Not even the slightest change in rpms. I have brand new spark plugs, coils, and wires. A new crankshaft position sensor and I've had it reset with a computer by my mechanic multiple times. I keep getting misfire codes obviously but no other codes. Somebody please help me.

Possible a spark plug wire came off?

Also why did you have the transmission replaced? That seems extreme.

It went out on me. Idk how exactly but there were metal shavings in the transmission because the gears got all messed up somehow but it's got a whole new transmission now. Also I dont have a catalytic converter, I've had it deleted. Is it possible the oxygen sensors could make it do this? And the wires are fine and snug and all that

Also when the transmission went out, it sat for around a month while we waited for the new one to be delivered. Before the transmission went out, I had no issues with the car, it ran great. Then when we got the new transmission in, it took about 2 hours to finally get it started and it was running real rough for about 5 minutes then it smoothed out and like I said previously, it ran fine for about one day.
