Dead car, sweep gauges

I just tried to start my car after work. It unlocked fine, but when I tried to start it everything went black, absolutely no gauges lights etc.

I had my friend try to jump me, we let it charge for a while and when I tried to start it, all I'd get was clicks and it wouldn't turn over. I noticed the gauges would sweep in ACC though kind of like my buddy's old STI. Then we took the cables off, all the dash lights would flicker and eventually, zero power again.

So my gut (and other posts) are telling me dead battery, I just wanted to see if anybody else had an idea.

Waiting at work until somebody can come bring me to get a battery, just figured I'd ask.

Cheers

The positive terminal looks pretty shitted up, kind of like it leaked. I'm almost positive it's the battery, the engine is fairly new.

Most likely battery as you've said. If it's completely dead, you won't be able to jump start it.
Think from now on, when you check oil and coolant level, give those terminals a look and clean them up if dirty or corroded.

Will do sir.
I was able to pick up a battery, clean and lube up the terminals and drive my baby home last night so everything appears fine now. I'm glad that's all it was.

Thanks all, cheers
