It looks like there are a few updates to the clutch pedal for the series one cars. The current part number ends in C. Aparently these have been failing and been needing to be replaced.

What year car did they start using this part from the factory? I am noticing that every so often when I hit my clutch pedal I hear kind of a plastic pop sound and I am wondering if the updated part may be the fix for this. I have an 06, for anybody wondering.

They've been replaced because they have been breaking(snapping). Do a search and you will see!

Here is the most active thread on this subject! https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/clutch-pedal-snap-off-8-year-warranty-recall-%7E%7E%7E-132912/

Look through that thread and see if you can find your symptoms.........but yours sounds different from what you describe.
You need to get in there and look at the bracket to make sure it's not ripping. Also check and see if you have more side to side movement than you should have.

If you want to know the answer about the model numbers and when, I would send a PM to ASH8 as he might be able to help out there.

.
Have you seen these new peddle assemblies? It would be nice to see a picture.

I have not seen the new assemblies. But from what I have gathered from reading that thread, the C revision part is relatively new, so it likely didn't come stock on any car. Also the giveaway for the failure seems to be the ability to move the clutch pedal to the right or left, which mine doesn't seem to have any play. The noise I am hearing must be something else. I may consider getting the racing roots reinforced part just to insure mine doesn't fail. I tend to be mean to clutch pedals.

The last couple brand-new pedal assemblies I have received from the dealer have been the FE15-41-300C units and they are exactly the same as every other pedal we have been welding up.

Part numbers can change for several reasons, and they are all not logical.

Change in Software for ERP/MRP
lot change
