Does your clutch touch the floor when fully pressed?

Hi All,

Could some of you who don't have problems shifting please tell me if you clutch touches the ground when you press it all the way?

I'm having troubles getting into 1-2 and R gears at times. I've been reading about adjusting the height of your clutch and it says something about adjusting 2 bolts but I'm a bit scared to attempt this myself as I don't know anything about cars.

I'm thinking maybe my clutch actually wants to go further down but the floor is stopping it and this is making it hard to shift into gears.

Thanks
Chris

It's really easy, and probably needs adjusted. My pedal touches the floor and thuds when it hits.

Mine doesn't but gets pretty darn close. There's a couple of manuals that will tell you how, but if not, Have a car buddy adjust it for you. If it's too easy to push and feels like the clutch needs more play, then you *definitely* need to adjust it - otherwise you might also wear down your clutch disc faster. Any remote chance that you had a clutch swap recently, or maybe haven't changed out your transmission oil*?

Not a cause, but slightly related. Couldn't hurt.

I actually just had the transmission oil changed to redline, a new clutch and thrust bearing put in as the thrust bearing was squeaking. Its better to shift since doing that but sometimes I just cant get it into gear and have to release then push the clutch and try again.

Ahhhh, ok. I recently changed my clutch myself. After a long day of working on the tranny, we tried to put the car into gear (up on jack stands). Really had to FORCE it and the tires spun to 7 MPH with the clutch pedal all the way depressed. We almost gave up but then I realized we had to adjust the pedal to allow enough leverage for the clutch disc to disengage.

I would guess you have a similar problem (not enough room/leverage to disengage) but at a more minor level. (I took care of it before the car was on the ground.) It's an easy fix Warning, it may require multiple adjustments to find the right feel, mine is super stiff right now but I like the new feel.

About $340 for just the kit. Then there's installation and labor fees, or about 350 bucks in tools if you do it yourself. Eesh, don't do it unless you have to. It's probably just a squeaky pedal. LUBE!

I got my friend at work to have a look today and he said I had alot of free play. We adjusted it so there is only a few mill of free play so ill test it out tonight and see if this fixes the problem.

My clutch pedal is now squeaking when I press it since adjusting the free play. I've read this could either require some lube or its going to snap
