Door Check Loose
Recently, my driver side door check has become loose. Not knowing the problem, I sprayed some WD-40 on it because it seemed like a lubrication problem, but that actually made the problem worse.
I went ahead and unscrewed the bolt holding the door check in place, and the mating threads seem to be a little mangled. I have tried using new screws, and when I pull those out, their threads already look somewhat messed up.
When I try screwing the door check back on, the screw slowly gets pretty hard to turn, and then at a certain point, it gets really easy to turn like I was just starting to put the screw in. I can turn it indefinitely, but it no longer gets any tighter. Does this point to a thread problem in the hole?
Thanks for your help.

i would say get the correct tap and see if you can clear the hole back up and see if it tightens up wiht a new bolt....if not....you may have to drill out and tap up to the next size......not a great thing to have to do....but may be the best option...someone back me up on this if you agree...

Alright, I'll try and do that this weekend. There is a pretty good difference between the size of the current bolt and the size of the hole in the door check, so it should work. Also, I gotta work on getting a broken bolt out of the passenger side door check hole. My doors aren't doing so hot right now
