E-brake light, ABS light, and traction light all on at the same time.

So I had my front right tire replaced earlier today. As I'm driving to work, I rev to about 6k to merge onto the highway, and as I do so, my ABS, traction, and E-brake light all shoot on at the same time and stay on for the duration of the drive. Later, when I'm off, I start my car up, lights are off. After roughly five minutes of driving, the lights all come back on again and stay on. I've never had this problem and it didn't appear until after I got this tire put on, so I have no idea what to make of this. Any ideas?

Have you checked all your fuses?

Wouldn't the lights stay on upon starting the car initially if it were a fuse issue? Nonetheless, I planned on checking them tomorrow. Just didn't have the time today. Makes me wonder how a fuse managed to be blown putting on a damn tire if that were indeed the culprit...

You would be surprised what one blown fuse can do Plus, you think you just got one tire changed, but you don't know what the mechanics could have f-ed up in the process whether they realized it or not.

Fair enough. Well, as I said, I'm gonna check my fuses tomorrow, and see if that's it or not. I hope it's something as simple as that. Is there one you think I should check for in particular? Btw, thanks for the advice.

Not sure it explains the E-brake light, but obviously get in there........take that wheel off they changed and look to see if the damaged or knocked loose the ABS connector on that corner.

Also, is this tire the same size as the old?
I've even heard of having a major difference in tread depth between one tire and the rest can result in this. This one is new, how do the rest look?

this. also make sure the tire is on in the correct direction. if its a directional tread tire it will have an arrow that needs to point forward if its on correctly.

But the major first thing to do is TELL THE PEOPLE WHO CHANGED THE TIRE. IF they broke something they are liable for fixing it. They need to be on notice right from the beginning. dont bitch and scream, just inform. They may ask you to bring it in so they can check it over.

let them its their responsibility

if the tire is correct- disconnect the battery and leave it off for a minute then re-connect it.

turn the key to on (not start) and turn the steering wheel all the way to lock left then all the way lock right then back to the middle.

if none of this works and you end up at the dealer for diagnosis make sure you have it worked out with the tire changers that they will pay if its something to do with that tire change.

Any news on a solution. I just purchesed a 06 shinka and I have the same problem. When I bought it the tires on the rear were diffrent size then the front. I had the dealership put on new tires to match front. Took the car to mazda. The told me that should fix the problem. Reset the codes. About a 5 days later same lights came on. Now mazda wants 120 to look at it. Car drives fine but annoying having the lights on.

Those are the proper lights for when you drive with different tires, so I wouldn't waste money on messing with anything except rotating tires around, and or running with traction off until you get 4 tires of even size, model, and traction.

Maybe the new tire needs 500 miles to wear the new slickness off, but one thing is sure.

Don't run with the traction control light on and the red brake on at the same time or the rear brakes will lock prematurely!

I apologize for the lack of an update. Things have been crazy on my end. But anyways, it turns out that the tire that was replaced was a 225/45/18, and the rest were 225/40/18, which in turn caused the lights to come on. I can verify that this was the issue as I have since gotten all four of my tires replaced and the lights have not come back on.

Let me tell you, driving an RX-8 in an Ohio winter with no ABS or traction control is an...adventure to say the least. I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks for building this thread!

I am stationed in Germany and my Dad has my 8. He put new tires on it for me about a month ago and called me about your issues above.

Turns out Pep Boys put 3x 225/45/18s and 1x 245/45/18 on my 8.

Searching and the RX8 Club FTW!

If it is anything like the issue with my 8 everytime you turn it off it will reset and the lights will go off.

After driving for a while they will come on again....

I've just bought one, and I am getting the same issue - will talk to the garage, but did you ever get a resolution?

Space and Darth....................go here, something on this list is very likely to be your issue(s). https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/have-abs-dcs-tcs-issues-lights-staying-202843/

Thanks, found one rear tyre down by 7 or so psi. Could that be it? Haven't driven far enough since to be sure its fixed.
Off topic, but what psi to use? Book says 32 but some people say 35.

I usually run 33-34psi.

In terms of it creating the other issues, I kinda doubt it, but it could, so I guess we will see.

If not, check all the items in that other thread I linked. The only one that doesn't make sense to me(in terms of my thread) is the E-brake, so given that and the fact you didn't mention the TPMS...maybe you don't have it and this would possibly explain all the other lights?????

If you have TPMS then it will alert you if it falls below 26psi or above about ~49-50psi.

Don't think I have TPMS - I'm in the UK. See http://mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/sh...d.php?p=277390
Traction control light seems to come on quite often, when going slow in a high gear - is that normal?

I have two different types of tyre on the back - Bridgestone RE040 on one side, and Uniroyal Rainsport 2 on the other (both 225/45/18). The RE040 is a few mm more worn as well. There are Rainsport 2's on the front.
Guess I should replace that RE040 back tyre - would that help with the traction control light coming on?

Yep..............in my opinion it will.
Would like to know the result when you do..............make sure you let me(us) know.
FYI..................if the Rainsport is worn significantly, you might have to think about doing both rears.

The Rainsport on the back is fairly new. Took the car into the garage to check any codes - it was showing a C1222 (wheel speed mismatch). Guess that backs up the tyre theory.
Don't have a replacement yet - the garage shou;d be getting one for me.

I just want to say that I had this same exact problem by pulling the traction control fuse. It started out with just the DSC/DCS? (one of those lol) and then the e-brake light would come on. Fixed it by just replacing the fuse

OK. Have the new tyre on now, so all Rainsports. Only had it on for two days, but haven't seen the yellow DCS light come on since, so ... fingers crossed.
Thanks.
