Expo 1, that's the letter I received. I can't tell any difference in the way the car runs, except the idle seems rougher.

Exclamation RX-8 'N' Flash Info.....

Hey everyone, I just got back from Rick Case Mazda in Atlanta. I was talking with the service manager about some of the new recalls and mods for the RX8.

He told me that the new 'N' flash that just came out already has a history of causing CEL's in most of the upgraded cars. Apparently the 'N' flash allows more oil to be injected than all of the previous flashes, but maybe this make it too rich???

He mentioned that they have been told to stop customers from getting the 'N' flash, and wait for yet another flash to replace it.

-Just say 'O' ????????

if you want a laugh, ask him to print out the TSB related to the flash.
See what he can produce.. I would.
Then if he admitted he was making stuff up i'd ask him how often he did that to customers?

Talking Oil injection overload.....

The best part is the "too much oil made them run rich..."

Poor little oil pump could never put enough oil in to affect the mixture, and evenif it COULD, the sump would be empty before you got a mile down the road! :p

New PCM Flash, Halted!!

I was one of many who recieved a letter in the mail from Mazda stating to make an appointment to come in and have my PCM updated to the latest flash. I had made an appointment last week to have this done tomorrow. I just got a call from my dealership today stating that mazda corp had just called them and told them to stop all flash updates as indicated by there letter. Apparently, there is a flaw in the software update, which causes the check engine light for some cars to stay on permenantly. My dealership told me that they will call to reschedual an appointment when mazda has corrected the problem. Just FYI...

I got this too early last week and have not had the chance to get back to the dealership yet. Shouldn't be a big deal.

I wouldn't trust anything Rick Case says. That dealer started out as a Hyundai dealer in 87, and has had a reputation for shadiness since.

Maybe there's some truth in this after all.

I think they flashed you with the wrong "M", because since they flashed mine, my car only has 120 hp, and uses hydrogen for fuel.

I was informed of a new flash that was in the process of being released about four weeks ago by the people in the service department at Trussville Mazda, so I decided to share the info with the people on this forum.........nobody wanted to listen.......that's why I hardly ever post anything on this forum......most of the members think they know everything......isn't that right Nemesis8??????

Here's your post Nemesis8 in case you forgot what you typed.......

Trussville is a good shop, and they know that we are all listening to comments like that one. I'm sure they do not want to ruin their respect here by making idle claims of a new flash, so why not e-mail them, and ask that they put what they said down in writing, then copy it here for the forum to see...
I for one do not believe Mazda is on the verge of anything currently

Well, which Service Manager or Tech said it? I'll e-mail them, hell they owe me an answer for all the money I have spent there...

Who's right now Nemesis???

Not you, appearently.

The problem isn't with the flash itself, but with the WDS system. There is some issue with the way the MSP04 is getting sent out to the dealers.
MNAO is just holding them until they get the dial-up issue worked out.

Did it ever occur to you that the reason you don't know everything is because you think you already do??? This forum pisses me off more and more each day......most of you guys are just a bunch of wanna be geeks.........sad isn't it??

Well, it does put out a hell of a lot more oil under some conditions.

On a luke-warm start, my '8 now smokes like a b*tch, which began as soon as I got it flashed.
I drove up, pulled in, watched them flash it and drove out and parked it next door for some Korean BBQ.
45 minutes later, I started it and there was a nice, thin blue cloud that lasted for 2 or 3 minutes.
It has done this ever since and it stops as soon as I drive it for a minute.

I just saw the TSB and it says to stop any more reflashes for the time being until it can be reprogramed.

No reason stated other than a MIL light and a false code to be stored.

At least Mazda is working on updates and fixing bugs. Stay tuned................
